Since we brought Aubree home, we've been stressing to her how important it is to use her words. Especially when it comes to letting us know what she's feeling. It's something we work on daily. Now that she is understanding about 95% of what we say, she has been able to share her feelings with us. Here's a little gem of a conversation that just occurred...
Aubree ate her plate of spaghetti as quickly as she could. This is nothing out of the ordinary. Dylan and Aubree "race" each other at everything. Nearly every meal in our house these days ends with one kid yelling, "I'M DONE!" and the other kid crying because they "lost". Anyway, she finished her plate in record time, and started bringing it toward the kitchen sink.
Mom: "Aubree, don't you want any garlic bread?"
Aubree: "No. Me done. I eat it all. Now chips."
Mom: "No Aubree, we're not having chips right now. If you're still hungry you can have more spaghetti or garlic bread."
*Aubree proceeds to put her plate in the sink*
Aubree: "MOMMY, I'M NO HAPPY TONIGHT."
Mom: "Why aren't you happy?"
Aubree: I eat it all, and you no share chips. You no share. That's not nice, Mommy. I'm NO HAPPY."
*sigh*
I didn't have the energy to argue with her tonight. Nobody gets chips, and mommy gets a timeout for not sharing. ;)
