We spent the morning with Lemlem again today. It was another good visit. She loves to cuddle and give and get big hugs. Sometimes she likes being with Brandon and I both, and other times she shows preference for one or the other. But at least she has been dividing her time fairly equally between us. It's pretty hard for me during the times that she prefers Brandon over me. ;) She likes rough housing and playing soccer, but never for too long. She is mostly a girly girl. It was so cute when she found my chap stick today. She knew exactly what to do with it, and seemed so proud to put it on. We are very blessed to have arrived in Ethiopia when we did. I'm so glad that we've had the past three days to get reacquainted with Lemlem, before taking her out of the orphanage. The next time we see her, we'll be saying goodbye to the orphanage and taking her with us!!! :)
Tonight we are going to Yod Abyssinia, a cultural restaurant here in Addis. Brandon and I loved this restaurant during our last trip, so we're excited! This was the restaurant where we saw the amazing traditional dancing. We have a big group of families with us again on this trip, so it should be a lot of fun!
Tomorrow is the day we have been so anxiously and nervously awaiting. We leave at 7am for Awassa. Awassa is South of Addis Ababa, near the Sidama Zone, where Lemlem was born. If everything goes as planned, we will be meeting Lemlem's grandmother. This is sure to be a very emotional visit. We've prepared a lot of questions to ask her so we can find out as much as possible about her background. This is probably the one and only chance we will have to get more information for her. We're extremely excited for this trip, but also extremely nervous. We're very excited to get outside of the city to see more of Ethiopia. Awassa is located in the Great Rift Valley. I've seen pictures from other adoptive families who have taken this same trip, but actually being there ourselves is going to be amazing. I feel like we're going to see the real Ethiopia...the real Africa, tomorrow. It is a dream come true. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it.
This will probably be my last update for a couple days. I'm not sure if we will have access to the internet in Awassa or not, but we're leaving our computer behind. Hopefully I'll be able to give an update about our trip to Awassa on Sunday night. (Sunday morning for you). Please keep us in your prayers...especially during our big day tomorrow. Also, pray for Lemlem's grandmother, as I am sure it will not be an easy day for her either.
